BELKYRA™ (KYBELLA®) will be given by a doctor, (or if national guidance permits, a healthcare professional under the supervision of a doctor), directly underneath the skin (‘subcutaneous use’). BELKYRA™ (KYBELLA®) will be injected in small amounts in several locations in your treatment area, that is the fat tissue directly below the skin in the area under your chin.
Since everyone's chin profile is different, the number of treatments varies from patient to patient. Your healthcare specialist will help determine how many treatment sessions you need based on the amount and distribution of your submental fat and your personal treatment goals. Each BELKYRA™ (KYBELLA®) treatment session is given at least 1 month apart, and you should not receive more than 6 treatments.
BELKYRA™ (KYBELLA®) is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment for adults that destroys fat cells to gradually improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat), also called “double chin.”
BELKYRA™ (KYBELLA®), also known by the brand name Kybella, is a deoxycholic acid. Kybella is a non-surgical injectable technique used to target the fat beneath the chin. Deoxycholic acid is injected into the skin, targeting the fat cells in this area. The beauty of Kybella is that no incisions are required, and that downtime is minimal in most cases.
- Treatment can only be administered by a KYBELLA®-trained healthcare specialist.
- At each treatment, you will receive multiple small injections under your chin, and the injection process takes about 15 to 20 minutes.
- The exact number of injections will depend on the amount of fat you have under your chin and your desired profile.
Contraindications
- Do not receive BELKYRA™ (KYBELLA®) if you have an infection in the treatment area.
After-care
- No smoking, no alcohol consumption, and no physical exercise the first 24 hours.
- Limit sun exposure and don’t visit tanning beds the first 2 weeks.
- No sauna, spa, and hammam for the first 2 weeks.
- No facial treatments, such as laser treatments or peels, the first 2 weeks.
- Try not to touch the area, only do so with washed hands.
- Cooling will help the swelling settle.
