How to inject/administer this product
Hymovis should only be administered by a qualified physician trained in accepted injection techniques for delivering intra-articular injections. When injecting, strict aseptic injection guidelines should be followed. Before administering Hymovis, it is recommended to remove joint effusion with an 18–20-gauge needle. The same needle can be used for injecting Hymovis, but it is not recommended to use the same syringe. The needle can be attached to the syringe by first twisting and then lifting off the latter’s tip cap; the twisting action helps minimize product leakage. The needle should be securely attached, but care should to taken to not overtighten or use excessive force during the attachment process, as either of these actions could cause the syringe tip to break. Inject the full 3ml dose into one knee. If both knees are being treated, a separate syringe should be used for the other knee. The second injection should be administered to the same joint one week after the first injection.
