RADIESSE® 3ml

RADIESSE® is injected into the skin with a thin needle to plump the skin and add volume to smooth facial wrinkles and folds such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth. Your doctor will inject the product into your skin to make the wrinkles shallower and smoother.

RADIESSE® injectable implant is indicated for subdermal implantation for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds and it is also intended for restoration and/or correction of the signs of facial fat loss (lipoatrophy) in people with human immunodeficiency virus.

RADIESSE® is an opaque, white-colored dermal filler made up of CaHA microspheres in a water-based gel injected into the skin of the face to smooth away wrinkles such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds). RADIESSE® is non-animal based and free from animal protein.

Pretreatment

• Consult & Consent: Discuss suitability, risks/benefits, and aftercare. Obtain consent.
• Optional Anesthesia: Apply topical anesthetic (30-45 min) for comfort.
• Disinfection: Cleanse treatment area to minimize infection.
• Marking (Optional): Mark injection points for precise placement.

Injection

• Needle Selection: Use sterile needles with a size and length appropriate for the targeted area and depth (refer to product instructions).
• Injection Technique:
  • Linear Retrograde Technique: Injections are made along wrinkle lines in a backward direction for wrinkle correction and volumization.
  • Serial Puncture Technique: Multiple small injections placed in a grid-like pattern for broader tissue stimulation and volumization.
• Injection Depth: The product should be injected into the mid to deep dermis, avoiding superficial dermis or blood vessels (refer to product instructions).
• Injection Volume: The amount of RADIESSE® used will vary depending on the patient’s anatomy, desired correction, and product characteristics. Start with a low volume and gradually increase if needed to achieve the optimal result.

Post-treatment

• Cooling: Apply a cool compress to the treated area for 10-15 minutes to minimize swelling and discomfort.
• Massage (Optional): Gentle massage of the treated area as instructed by the practitioner might help distribute the product evenly and minimize swelling.
• Results: Initial improvement might be noticeable. However, optimal results with RADIESSE® typically take 4-6 weeks to become fully visible as the product stimulates collagen production.

Additional Considerations

• The number of treatment sessions and the interval between them can vary depending on the patient’s needs and desired outcome. Typically, one or two sessions are sufficient.
• RADIESSE® can be combined with other aesthetic procedures.
• Potential side effects like temporary redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness, and injection site irregularities can occur. Discuss potential risks and benefits with the patient before proceeding.

Contraindications

• Contraindicated for patients with severe allergies manifested by a history of anaphylaxis, or history or presence of multiple severe allergies.
• Not to be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components.
• RADIESSE® injectable implant is contraindicated for patients with bleeding disorders.

After-care

• Your doctor may periodically apply an ice pack to the treatment area to help reduce swelling. Your health care provider will give you specific after-treatment care instructions.
• The number of treatments required to get the look you want depends on your face and your personal treatment plan.
• Your doctor will decide with you the number of treatment sessions you will need and the amount of RADIESSE® you will need at each treatment session. A touch-up treatment may be required to get the desired outcome.
