What is TEOSYAL® RHA 2?
TEOSYAL® RHA 2 is a temporary dermal filler made with a mixture of cross-linked non-animal hyaluronic acid and non-modified hyaluronic acid, with Lidocaine added as an anesthetic to reduce pain and discomfort during injections. The hyaluronic acid in TEOSYAL® RHA 2 acts similarly to natural hyaluronic acid within the skin, helping it to move and stretch along with the skin in areas that are more mobile.
Why do doctors use TEOSYAL® RHA 2?
Doctors such as plastic surgeons and dermatologists use TEOSYAL® RHA 2 to treat moderate wrinkles and depressions associated with aging skin or scarring. TEOSYAL® RHA 2 is suitable for the face, in areas that tend to move such as the nasogenian folds which run from the nose to the chin, peribuccal cheek wrinkles, and glabellar forehead wrinkles. Doctors may choose to use TEOSYAL® RHA 2 because the mixed hyaluronic acid formula helps the filler to stretch and move in active areas of the face.
How TEOSYAL® RHA 2 works
Hyaluronic acid can absorb up to about a thousand times its weight in water, so when you inject TEOSYAL® RHA 2, it adds volume to the skin to support the skin and correct the wrinkle. Then, the hyaluronic acid will break down gradually to be absorbed into the skin, keeping the skin hydrated. TEOSYAL® RHA 2 can give the skin more flexible filling in areas of the face that move frequently, and it does this by combining cross-linked hyaluronic acid with non-modified hyaluronic acid. The cross-linked hyaluronic acid resists breaking down longer in the skin, giving your patient lasting results, while the non-modified hyaluronic acid helps the filler to move more like natural hyaluronic acid. This can help give your patients a more natural look in areas where wrinkles are caused by facial movement.
When and how to use TEOSYAL® RHA 2
Although it will vary from patient to patient, one TEOSYAL® RHA 2 treatment should produce results that last for about six to nine months on average. This means you should treat each patient with TEOSYAL® RHA 2 once or twice a year to touch up and maintain their smooth appearance, however you may need two treatment sessions initially to get optimal correction, depending on wrinkle depth. To use TEOSYAL® RHA 2, inject the needle slowly into the mid-dermis at the site of the wrinkle that needs correction. You can use the linear threading injection technique. Injecting TEOSYAL® RHA 2 too deeply will fail to show results, and injecting TEOSYAL® RHA 2 to shallowly can produce undesired results such as a lumpy appearance. The volume of TEOSYAL® RHA 2 you use will depend on your individual patient’s needs, but you should usually not exceed 3ml in a treatment session. After injecting TEOSYAL® RHA 2, gently massage the area to ensure even distribution. Only trained medical professionals should inject this or other dermal fillers, and you should refer to your product leaflet for specific instructions.
TEOSYAL® RHA 2 side effects
Like other dermal filler injections, common TEOSYAL® RHA 2 side effects can include redness, swelling, and discomfort at the injection site. Usually these side effects will resolve on their own within the next few days after treatment. Since TEOSYAL® RHA 2 contains Lidocaine, an anesthetic, there should also be less pain and discomfort than when using dermal fillers without Lidocaine. Your patients could also experience other TEOSYAL® RHA 2 side effects like temporary loss of sensitivity at the injection site, itching, abscess, haematoma, induration (skin hardness), nodules or granulomas, skin necrosis, discoloration, implant migration, hypersensitivity, or anaphylactic shock. These may not be all the possible TEOSYAL® RHA 2 side effects.
Precautions when using TEOSYAL® RHA 2
If your patients are allergic or sensitive to hyaluronic acid, Lidocaine, or any other ingredient in TEOSYAL® RHA 2, you should not inject them with this dermal filler. Do not use TEOSYAL® RHA 2 on patients who are pregnant, and do not use TEOSYAL® RHA 2 on patients who are breastfeeding, since researchers have not determined the effect of this medical device on a child. In the week before their treatment, your patients should not use high doses of vitamin E, anti-coagulants, anti-inflammatories, or aspirin. After the injection, your patients should not wear makeup for the next twelve hours and should avoid sauna, intense cold, or other extreme temperatures for the next week. You should use a TEOSYAL® RHA 2 syringe in one treatment session only to ensure it is sterile.
Does TEOSYAL® RHA 2 require a skin test?
You do not need to perform a skin test before using TEOSYAL® RHA 2 on your patients. The hyaluronic acid in this dermal filler is non-animal, instead made in a laboratory by bacterial fermentation from streptococci bacteria. A patented technology helps to reduce the presence of protein and bacterial endotoxins in TEOSYAL® RHA 2, reducing the chance of hypersensitivity.
How to store TEOSYAL® RHA 2
Keep TEOSYAL® RHA 2 at temperatures between two and twenty-five degrees Celsius. Always store TEOSYAL® RHA 2 away from direct sunlight.
