What is TEOSYAL® RHA 4?
TEOSYAL® RHA 4 is a temporary dermal filler for volume restoration in extended areas of the face. This injectable filler is made of a mixture of cross-linked hyaluronic acid and non-modified hyaluronic acid, giving it the ability to stretch in areas of the face that tend to move. TEOSYAL® RHA 4 also contains Lidocaine, an anesthetic, which helps reduce pain and discomfort from the injection.

How TEOSYAL® RHA 4 works
Like other similar dermal fillers, TEOSYAL® RHA 4 works by adding hyaluronic acid subcutaneously. The hyaluronic acid can hold up to a thousand times its weight in moisture, so it helps to hydrate and support the skin, restoring volume. TEOSYAL® RHA 4 contains a mixture of cross-linked hyaluronic acid, which lasts longer within the skin before breaking down, and non-modified hyaluronic acid, which acts more like natural hyaluronic acid within the skin, stretching and moving. This hyaluronic acid gradually breaks down within your patient’s skin, absorbing into their body.
When and how to use TEOSYAL® RHA 4
TEOSYAL® RHA 4 usually lasts about six to nine months within the skin, so your patients should expect to return to your clinic once or twice a year for touch-ups. You may also need to perform two TEOSYAL® RHA 4 treatments to give your patients the results they desire, depending on their individual needs and the condition of their skin. Only trained and qualified medical professionals should inject TEOSYAL® RHA 4. To use TEOSYAL® RHA 4, slowly inject the filler into your patient’s subcutaneous fat tissue following the trajectory you want. Use the quantity and injection technique appropriate for the results your patient desires. Remember to stop the injection well before pulling out the needle to avoid hyaluronic acid flowing out of the treatment area, and avoid injecting TEOSYAL® RHA 4 too shallowly or you may have irregular results. TEOSYAL® RHA 4 side effects
After a TEOSYAL® RHA 4 injection, your patient could experience side effects like redness (erythema), swelling, and discomfort at the injection site, but these should resolve within a few days. Your patient could also experience TEOSYAL® RHA 4 side effects like discoloration, itching, haematoma, abscesses, indurations (hardness), nodules or granulomas, skin necrosis, migration of the implant, and sensitivity in the area of the injection. TEOSYAL® RHA 4 could also cause hypersensitivity or anaphylactic shock. These may not be all the possible TEOSYAL® RHA 4 side effects.
Precautions when using TEOSYAL® RHA 4
Never inject patients with TEOSYAL® RHA 4 who are allergic or sensitive to hyaluronic acid or any other of its ingredients. Do not administer TEOSYAL® RHA 4 to pregnant women, and do not administer TEOSYAL® RHA 4 to women who are breastfeeding, because there have been no clinical trials to ensure the filler’s safety in these situations. For the week before their treatment, your patients should avoid taking large quantities of vitamin E, aspirin, anti-inflammatories, and anti-coagulants, and for the week after their treatment, they should avoid extreme temperatures such as a sauna. Your patient should also avoid applying makeup for the first twelve hours after their injection.
Does TEOSYAL® RHA 4 require a skin test?
You do not need to perform a skin test on your patient before administering TEOSYAL® RHA 4. The hyaluronic acid is non-animal, produced in a laboratory by bacterial fermentation from streptococci bacteria. A patented technology also helps reduce bacterial endotoxin and protein levels in TEOSYAL® RHA 4, reducing the chance your patient will have a hypersensitivity reaction.
How to store TEOSYAL® RHA 4
You should store TEOSYAL® RHA 4 between two and twenty-five degrees Celsius. Keep TEOSYAL® RHA 4 away from direct sunlight when not in use to avoid prematurely degrading the filler.
