• Patient Preparation: Assess the knee joint for any signs of skin infections or inflammation that could contraindicate the injection.
• Anesthetic Application: Apply a local anesthetic such as lidocaine to the injection site to minimize discomfort.
• Skin Disinfection: Clean the injection site thoroughly with an appropriate antiseptic that does not contain quaternary ammonium salts, as these can cause the sodium hyaluronate to precipitate.
